  1. We are now at the end of day 2. Day 1 was was a long drive, ending up in a free camp 60kms north of Coonamble. It was a beautiful trip, made all the better by the never ending autumnal changes to the trees. Lots of golds, reds and oranges were seen. We lunched in Wellington at the same park we had used on a previous trip.
K&B provided dinner that night and it was a good thing too, as we didn't get to camp until right on sunset. Having dinner provided meant that we didn't have to fluff around in the dark too much. After the great dinner, we left the others and went to bed. We didn't realise it was only 8:30, but it felt later due to the long day. We slept well but it was very cool outside. We got up at 6am ready to prepare for the new day only to be told that Beryl had been quite ill during the night. We decided to continue on, and soon were engulfed by lots of emus, Roos and birds, We stopped for some photos, and when we finally caught up to K&B, they were stopped on side of the road, about 15kms short of Walget. Beryl had taken a turn for the worse. We soon decided to take her into the hospital, where she stayed for about 6 hrs before being released. As a result, we only made a short trip into Lightning Ridge where we are now camped. It is starting to get cool again, so when Wendy gets back from the shower, I will go for mine, then hit the sack out of the wind. We took plenty of photos so I will post them when I get my pc connected to the interweb!! Good night for now

  2. It is now end of day 3. We left LR about 9-ish, as some people just couldn't get out of bed! Beryl was feeling a lot better today which was really good, so we headed nth up towards St George via a lunch purchase at Hebel. We bought the famous Hebel pies, but elected to eat them in st George on the banks of the Belonne River. I also bought some shorts and boardies as I forgot to pack them....which I was reminded of 20 times. From there we headed across the river and nth to Mitchell and are camping at the Neil Turner Weir on the Marinoa River. It reminded us very much of the Cooper River at Innaminka. We are now enjoying spagbol by the fire. Sorry there are no photos, but I cannot do them on comments, and I cannot get to the blog proper to put up a new post

    1. Ron, it is very dry. We have just set up in Karumba, and there seems to be a lot of full dams, but I fear they are all fed by bores. Before we got here we went through Longreach, etc and it is very, very dry there. I have seen so many dead roos, emus and pigs on the road. They all come down to the road to get the dew moisture which feeds the roadside grasses and weeds.
